Silver Glades, Caravaning Sites Isle of Wight, Play Equipment

		The location of Silver Glades and its stunning environment are a large part of what makes it such a special place. Nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by the Hamstead Heritage Coast, the park lies ‘off the beaten track’ in a location that is well-endowed with wildlife and rich in indigenous vegetation and woodland, some of which is now quite rare. Within walking distance is the National Nature Reserve at Newtown, a spectacular wildlife area that hosts a wide variety of wetland birds. Locally there are several Sites of Special Scientific Interest including Ningwood Common, which is adjacent to Silver Glades, managed by the local Wild Life Trust and accessible to the public.

		Within the grounds of Silver Glades is a park garden and a woodland garden. The park garden incorporates large areas of managed grass with mixed flower and shrub beds, while the woodland garden is accessible but primarily kept to encourage wildlife by providing habitat and food. Silver Glades provides a rare opportunity for holidaymakers to experience this unique location. Efforts are made to ensure that the local environment is both sustained and enhanced by the caravan park’s activities, so good environmental practices are used wherever possible to promote the following objectives:

Silver Glades was voted Green Island Holiday Park of the Year in 2006 2007/8 and has held several Green Island Gold awards. In 2011 the Park joined the David Bellamy Conservation Award scheme and, after careful scrutiny, was given a Gold Award in recognition of its conservation work. The caravan park supports Gift to Nature, a charity that promotes local environmental projects. Guests are invited to contribute through a collection box and envelopes. This is at their discretion and whatever is collected is topped up by the Park to make an annual donation to the Scheme.
